Myths & Misconceptions

Hypnosis is a sleep state:

Not true. The client will be aware of what is going on at all times. if anything, the client will be
more aware due to concentrating on the therapists suggestions.

Therapist power/loss of client control:

Another myth is that the therapist is all powerful. A Client cannot be made to do anything against
their will, because if the therapist suggests anything that the client find unacceptable they will reject
the suggestion.

Weak Mindedness:

Another myth is that only the weak-minded can be hypnotised or stupid make the best candidates to
be hypnotised. This is false because the educationally subnormal have shorter attention spans and
therefore don't have the ability to concentrate on the therapists suggestions.
